Cohort 11 Begins Leadership Gift School

PMA is delighted to welcome an outstanding group of nonprofit professionals to Cohort 11 of the Institute of Philanthropic Leadership's Leadership Gift School. "This program continues to excel," said IPL Board Chair Jim Kelley, who welcomed the cohort and gave them a preview of the program. "Leadership Gift School brings together a cohort of nonprofit CEOs and development directors who work together to build their organization's capacity for leadership giving. "Since it began in 2008," Kelley noted, "IPL has worked with 137 fundraisers from 71 nonprofits through its New Development Professionals program, and 97 organizations - some of them more than once - have graduated from Leadership Gift School."

PMA's Patton McDowell, the program's lead faculty member and facilitator, welcomed eight organizations to the Foundation For The Carolinas for Cohort 11's first session. This year's group includes leaders and fundraising professionals from a wide variety of organizations, including Crossnore Communities for Children, Freedom House, Freedom Schools, Gaston College Foundation, Lakeview Neighborhood Alliance, Turning Point, Wayfinders, and Zab's Place.

Session One featured outstanding guest speakers with decades of experience in philanthropic leadership, including Deviré Robinson and Jessie Hermann from the Foundation for the Carolinas, Deepa Naik from the Merancas Foundation, and James Bullock from Wingate University.
