If you're looking for great examples of nonprofit leadership, we celebrated four of them today as the Institute for Philanthropic Leadership awarded the inaugural Michael Marsicano Award for Philanthropic Leadership. Each of the four finalists' stories reflected the principles the former Foundation For The Carolinas President & CEO embodied for more than 33 years.

Congratulations to Karen Calder (Classroom Central), Carol Hardison (Crisis Assistance Ministry), Kim Sleight Lanphear, MBA, MA (Apparo - Business and Tech Solutions for Nonprofits) and award recipient Shannon (Hinson) Green, MBA, CFRE (Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region) for all they are doing to better their organizations and the communities they serve.

Thanks as well to IPL board members Joanne O'Brien BeamPhilip BlumenthalJim Kelley and Meka Sales for tackling the very difficult selection process!

About the Institute for Philanthropic Leadership

In January 2008, eight philanthropy leaders in Charlotte got together to develop a program to help educate nonprofit leaders about how to cultivate and secure major gifts. Their work resulted in the Institute and its inaugural program, Leadership Gift School, in 2010.  In 2015, the Institute added the Emerging Leaders in Philanthropy program.  For more information, go to the Institute's website linked here (https://www.institutepl.org/).
